Finished the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest 10k

Well it’s about 2 hours now since the finish of the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest 10k, a madcap urban adventure round Edinburgh, I’m tired, a bit sore but mostly I am elated at having done it and survived! I don’t think I have climbed so many stairs, jumped over/crawled under/got soaked on as many obstacles ever in my 44 and a bit years on this earth! For some today was all about how fast they could circumnavigate the winding course through some of the finest scenery in one of the greatest cities on the planet, for others like me and my running buddy for the day, Ross Cunningham (now known as Mountain Goat!) it was about feeling truly alive and achieving something that, were it not for the existence of an event like the Survival of the Fittest, would not be possible. I will blog more about the actual course later today, when I have got my energy back, so for now that’s all ... I wasn’t the fittest (by a long way!) but I survived and I loved it ... well maybe not the last hill up the side of Edinburgh Castle that was put in out of pure evil by those pesky guys at Detail Events (Stewart Caithness I will get you back for that!!). More later ...
